I am really surprised, and utterly disappointed, to hear liberals against intervention to help the Libyan people. They have asked for our help. This isn’t Bush’s war. I don’t give a shit if it is illegal. Shame on you for wanting to stand by while people are killed by their own government, just because of a technicality. I hope if our government ever turns on us, other countries intervene and don’t pay more attention to the lawbook than common sense and basic morality.

Article One, Section 8 of the Constitution:

The Congress shall have power To Declare War.

The original definition of technicality: a point of law.

You read the old histories and you wonder how a free people devolve into tyranny. The republic becomes bloated and unwieldy and they lay down the burden of democracy.

They get lazy.
